 Chief Minister : The Chief Minister is appointed by the Governor.India’s youngest CM = M.O Hasan Farooq Maricar (in Puducherry, 1967 – 68, aged 29) The Chief Minister exercises all the powers of the Governor.

Generally, a person who is the leader of the majority party in the assembly is appointed as the Chief Minister.

After the elections in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and Puducherry, the Chief Minister is appointed by the President and the Chief Minister is responsible to the President.  The Chief Minister takes his oath of office before the Governor.

The Chief Minister submits his resignation to the Governor.

The Chief Minister is the principal spokesperson of the Government and presides over the meetings of the Ministers.

The Chief Minister transmits the decisions of the Council of Ministers to the Governor.

Whenever the Governor wants to bring something to the Council of Ministers, he does it only through the Chief Minister.

Pawan Kumar Chamling is the Chief Minister of Sikkim from 12 December 1994 to 27 May 2019. (24 years 5 months 15 days)

Pawan Kumar Chamling has been the CM of Sikkim for 5 consecutive times. 

Pawan Kumar Chamling’s party is Sikkim Democratic Front.  Prior to Pawan Kumar Chamling, Jyoti Basu had the record of being the longest-serving Chief Minister of India.  Jyoti Basu was CM of West Bengal for 23 consecutive years from 2 June 1977 to 6 November 2000.

Jyoti Basu’s party was the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

India’s shortest living CM = Harish Rawat (Uttarakhand) (21 April 2016 to 22 April 2016) (up to 1 day only)

 First Woman CM of India – Sucheta Kripalani UP (1963 – 1967)

 So far, 16 women have become CMs in 13 states of India.

There are 3 states of India, in which women CMs have been made more than once – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu.

Out of 16 women who become CM in India, 7 women have become CM more than once.

World’s longest ruling ruler, Queen Elizabeth-II (since 68 years)

From 6 February 1952 till now ‘Queen of England’.

Before them, this record was in the name of Bhumibol Atulytej, king of Thailand.  He was the King of Thailand for 70 years from 9 June 1946 to 13 October 2016.  Currently the king of Thailand – Mahavajira Longkorn.

Currently the youngest ruler in the world is Sanna Marin of Finland.  (34 years old).

England’s longest-lived Queen also Elizabeth -॥ (since 68 years)

 Before Elizabeth II, the longest-lived Queen of England was Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria was Queen of England for 63 years 216 days from 20 June 1837 to 22 January 1901.  On 9 September 2015, Elizabeth-II broke Queen Victoria’s record by completing 63 years 217 days of her rule.

On 6 February 2012 London’s Big Ban Tower was renamed Elizabeth Tower to commemorate 60 years of its rule.
